The sky’s the limit

We did have a short walk today – just under 5 miles – but that was almost incidental. We did go up a mountain – and boy what a mountain. In Italy it’s called Monte Bianco – that’s Mont Blanc to you and me. Not all of the way. Not quite. But we did go up to 3466 metres. That’s 11370 feet. Of course, there was some cloud around at the top so we couldn’t see the summit clearly. But here’s what we could see.

The white bit just below the blue sky is cloud. The greyish white bit just to the left of that is the snow on the summit. And no, we didn’t walk up that far. We caught the Skyway, a gondola that spins through 360 degrees while it’s ascending. A bit scary but also quite exciting.

We thought that while we are walking around it, it would be a good idea to try and get up close. This one’s a better picture taken as we were spinning our way back down. Still some cloud I’m afraid, but that’s mountain weather for you.

Anyway, the real treat of the day was lunch – we had panini. Carol ordered ‘Vegetariana’. What she got was lettuce and TUNA. That’s Italian for vegetarian!
