This is getting serious now. At least one seriously high pass on each of the remaining days. Today is Col de la Seigne. A long tiring uphill grind for the first few miles, followed by a really steep climb just when we’re getting tired. Nice!
We are without our luggage for the next two nights, so again we have to carry everything we need. It focusses the mind on what is really important. For me it’s pants. I sweat a lot as we’re hiking. Some of it evaporates, and some doesn’t. Gravity affects everything, sweat included, so it collects, not to be too indelicate, in the underwear. Pants. At the end of the day, they’re soaked. It’s not a luxury on a hike like this is, for me, having fresh undies to pop on after a shower. If you don’t have spares then, frankly it’s pants.
