Last night’s meal was both rustic and intriguing.
Starter: Soup – variety unspecified and indeterminate – could have been pea and potato or any other combination of vegetables. Colour: Pale greenish.
Main: 2 options. Veggie/Vegan – a large bowl of pulses. Other – a tiny bowl of slow cooked beef in an unidentified sauce – probably Bourguignon. Vegetables – 1 option – lashings of tiny roasted potatoes.
Cheese: It’s France so required by law. No option. Beaufort – the local kind.
Dessert: Panna cotta with blackberry coulis. Well, we are near to Italy.
Delicious but somewhat bizarre.
Today, after breakfast we walk out of the front door and immediately climb 3300 feet. Light breakfast is recommended. Stamina could be an issue.
