Up and away

Breakfast was tricky. A choice between a full belly of food to give the energy required for the climb, or a little something to make it easier to move. We decided that lighter would better, with frequent nibbles to get us there. In retrospect I’m not so sure. We both struggled after about 2000 feet of climb. In the end we made it. After 3300 feet I didn’t have the strength to hold the camera steady, so Carol took the picture.

From here onwards we were on familiar ground, quite literally. On previous visits to the Alps we had walked some of these paths before. We were on our way to one of our favourite valleys in the Alps.

It’s a long trek from here and we needed to press on. As we approached our hotel there was a huge clap of thunder and it started raining. By the time we had checked in, it was pouring. A lucky escape for us. Looking at the forecast, we may not be so lucky on our final day. Rain all day. We’ll see.
