Au revoir Mont Blanc

We did it! All the way round the massif of the entire Mont Blanc range. According to my GPS we covered 103.6 miles and climbed over 24500 feet. According to my feet we walked a lot further. According to my knees the descents were closer to 50000, which is a logical absurdity, but the joints know a thing or two about reality. An electronic gadget doesn’t measure the aches and pains.

Still, we are both really looking well and keen to leave.

Will we come back? We met lots of lovely people on our hike, one of whom is a marathon runner from Portland. ‘Never again’, I said when we arrived at our destination. Dennis replied, ‘Everyone says that when they finish a marathon, yet a few days later they start training for the next one’.

Thanks to Dennis and Shirley with whom we made good friends. Thanks to all the other lovely people we met along the way. And a big thanks to all who supported us from afar.

Tonight we’ll be in Trois. Chat later.
