It wasn’t so much the climb to Lac Blanc as the number of people on the path ahead of us. At times it felt as if we were ants, part of a procession. Occasionally there was room to pass, but in the end we just chugged along. Still we did make it. Here’s the proof.

The descent to Argentiere was something else. Often we felt like we had the mountain to ourselves. Some hairy moments as we descended rotten wooden steps and the occasional metal ladder. But it was a LONG way – over 4200 feet descent and about 7 miles. No wonder our knees are moaning. Anyway, a good night’s rest will sort them out. Here’s tonight’s sunset over Mont Blanc.
