So we got up early this morning (alarm at 4:30) to get to Eurotunnel. Unsurprisingly we were offered an earlier train. We took it and felt pretty smug until the driver informed us that there was a problem with the “loco”. Eventually our cars and us were herded onto another platform where we caught the train we were originally booked on! Duh!
We ended up in Calais about 5 minutes early than originally planned and visited our favourite boulangerie buying breakfast and lunch in one fell swoop. Yeah! Then off to the hypermarket to fill up the tank with cheap fuel.
Did I say ‘cheap? Historically diesel has been much less expensive in France. Not today. Our ‘best buy’ was 1.43 euros per litre. We saw it priced 1.80 per litre elsewhere. Not cheap any more.
Anyway, we got onto the motorway and set off for one of our favourite overnight stops in France. The town of Troyes is delightful.

And when we got to the hotel they’d decided to upgrade us. Nice! We’ll sleep well tonight!
